Beta Status
Phosor is currently in an Internal Beta stage. Features may change before the public release. Performance may occasionally be inconsistent depending on hardware, image formats, and library size. Unexpected bugs may still occur. Feedback from beta testers is highly appreciated.
Categories are the core organizational unit in Phosor. Each category represents a destination folder where sorted photos will be moved. Categories are fully customizable with names, colors, keyboard shortcuts, and output paths.
Overview
Two default categories ("Category 1" and "Category 2") appear in the sidebar when you launch Phosor. You can customize them, add new ones, or delete them as needed.
Configuring Categories
Adding a Category
Click the "+" button in the Categories header to add a new category.
Renaming
Click the category name field to rename it (e.g., "Keep", "Reject", "Review").
Color Labels
Click the color swatch to open the color picker and choose a label color. Color labels give instant visual feedback in the flag indicator.
Flag indicator
The flag indicator in the footer changes color to match the current photo's assigned category. A gray indicator means the photo is unflagged.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Click the keybind badge (showing a keyboard icon or current key) to enter recording mode, then press any key to bind it.
Unique keybindings
Keybindings cannot be duplicated. Assigning an already-used key shows an error.
Output Folders
Click the output folder strip at the bottom of the category row to select a destination directory. This is where sorted photos will be moved when you execute the batch move.
Output folder required
Categories without an output folder will be skipped during the Execute operation. See Recommended Workflow for details.
Deleting a Category
Click the "×" button to delete a category. If photos are assigned to it, a confirmation dialog appears.
Safe deletion
Deleting a category removes its assignment from all affected photos without deleting the photos themselves.
Category Behavior
- Each category has a unique ID and can be renamed at any time.
- Keybindings cannot be duplicated — assigning an already-used key shows an error.
- Deleting a category removes its assignment from all affected photos without deleting the photos.
- Category counts reflect the number of photos currently assigned.
- The flag indicator in the footer changes color to match the current photo's assigned category.
- Category counts update in real time as photos are assigned.
Current Limitations
- There is no drag-to-reorder for categories.
- Category configuration is not persisted between sessions (resets on restart).
- Output folders must be selected individually per category.
Configuration resets on restart
Categories, colors, keybindings, and output folders are not persisted between sessions. Each launch starts with two default categories. See the Roadmap for planned improvements.
