How to Report Issues

Bug Reports

When reporting a bug, please include:

  1. Platform — Windows, macOS, or Linux (and version).
  2. Phosor version — Check the version in the application (currently 0.9.21 (Internal Beta)).
  3. Steps to reproduce — Clear, numbered steps.
  4. Expected behavior — What you expected to happen.
  5. Actual behavior — What actually happened.
  6. Screenshots or screen recordings — If applicable.

Feature Requests

When suggesting a feature, please include:

  1. Problem — What problem the feature would solve.
  2. Proposed solution — How the feature would work.
  3. Use case — Who would benefit and why.

Beta Tester Checklist

Use this checklist to verify all core functionality during testing.

Setup & Scanning

  • [ ] Install and launch Phosor on your target platform (macOS, Windows, or Linux).
  • [ ] Open a folder containing a mix of JPEG and RAW files.
  • [ ] Verify all supported formats appear in the photo list.
  • [ ] Test opening a folder with zero supported files — verify the source path is preserved.
  • [ ] Test opening a folder with deeply nested subdirectories.
  • [ ] Navigate forward and backward through photos using arrow keys.
  • [ ] Verify wrap-around navigation (last → first, first → last).
  • [ ] Rapidly tap arrow keys — verify no flickering or stale images.
  • [ ] Test zoom (slider + mouse wheel) and pan (drag).
  • [ ] Toggle the composition grid and verify alignment.

Categories & Sorting

  • [ ] Rename categories and verify names update.
  • [ ] Change category colors and verify the flag indicator updates.
  • [ ] Bind keyboard shortcuts to categories.
  • [ ] Test binding a duplicate key — verify error message.
  • [ ] Sort photos using category keys in Single Mode.
  • [ ] Toggle Continue Mode and test burst sorting.
  • [ ] Test Shift + category key for temporary burst.
  • [ ] Adjust the burst interval using drag, typing, and arrow keys.
  • [ ] Clear a photo's flag using ⌘D / Ctrl+D.

Undo / Redo

  • [ ] Undo multiple sorting actions.
  • [ ] Redo previously undone actions.
  • [ ] Verify undo navigates to the affected photo.
  • [ ] Test undo during burst mode.

Metadata

  • [ ] Toggle metadata display on/off.
  • [ ] Verify metadata updates when navigating.
  • [ ] Check metadata for JPEG, PNG, and RAW files.
  • [ ] Verify missing fields show "—".

Execute & Move

  • [ ] Set output folders for categories.
  • [ ] Execute a move with flagged photos.
  • [ ] Verify the progress modal shows real-time updates.
  • [ ] Test executing with categories that have no output folder.
  • [ ] Test executing with zero flagged photos.
  • [ ] Verify moved photos are removed from the collection.
  • [ ] Test moving to a different drive/filesystem.
  • [ ] Test navigating during the move (should be blocked).

UI & UX

  • [ ] Resize the sidebar to minimum and maximum widths.
  • [ ] Test the sidebar on a small window (below 800px width).
  • [ ] Open the keyboard shortcut guide.
  • [ ] Test all modal types (alert, confirm, warning, error).
  • [ ] Verify toast notifications appear and auto-dismiss.
  • [ ] Test Tab/Shift+Tab focus trapping in modals.

Reporting Channels

Development mode

In development mode, additional "[DEBUG]" toast notifications appear for every action. These are suppressed in release builds.
