Beta Status
Phosor is currently in an Internal Beta stage. Features may change before the public release. Performance may occasionally be inconsistent depending on hardware, image formats, and library size. Unexpected bugs may still occur. Feedback from beta testers is highly appreciated.
A glossary of terms used throughout the Phosor documentation.
A
Culling
The process of selecting the best shots from a photo shoot. Phosor focuses purely on culling — quickly browsing, evaluating, and organizing photos without complex database management or editing features.

Burst Mode
A sorting mode that repeatedly assigns photos to a category at a configurable interval while a key is held. See Burst Mode.
Category
The core organizational unit in Phosor. Each category represents a destination folder where sorted photos will be moved. Categories are customizable with names, colors, keyboard shortcuts, and output paths.

Continue Mode
A global toggle that enables burst sorting. When enabled, holding a category key repeatedly assigns photos at the configured burst interval. See Continue Mode.
E
Execute
The action that moves all flagged photos to their assigned category output folders in a single batch operation. See Recommended Workflow.
F
Flag
A category assignment applied to a photo. When a photo is flagged, it is associated with a specific category and will be moved to that category's output folder during Execute.
Flag Indicator
The small colored square in the footer that reflects the current photo's assigned category color. A gray indicator means the photo is unflagged.
M
Metadata
EXIF data embedded in a photo file, including camera information, lens, exposure settings, and GPS coordinates. Phosor can display this information in a sidebar panel.
P
Preview
The image displayed in the main viewing area. Both standard formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF) and supported RAW formats are displayed in the viewer.
Prefetch
The process of loading adjacent photos in the background so they are ready when you navigate to them.
S
Scan
The process of recursively searching a folder for supported image files. Phosor scans all subdirectories automatically.
Shift Burst
Holding Shift + a category key to temporarily enter burst mode without toggling Continue Mode.
Sidebar
The right-hand panel containing the Source, Categories, Metadata, and Action sections.
Single Mode
The default sorting mode where pressing a category key assigns the current photo and advances to the next.
T
Toast
A brief, non-intrusive notification that appears at the bottom of the screen to provide feedback for user actions.
U
Undo
The ability to reverse sorting actions. Phosor supports up to 100 levels of undo.
W
Wrap-around
Navigation behavior where pressing → on the last photo returns to the first, and pressing ← on the first photo goes to the last.
