Unsupported Files
Beta Status
Phosor is currently in an Internal Beta stage. Features may change before the public release. Performance may occasionally be inconsistent depending on hardware, image formats, and library size. Unexpected bugs may still occur. Feedback from beta testers is highly appreciated.
This page lists all file formats that Phosor does not support, and explains what happens when unsupported files are encountered.
Unsupported Formats
The following formats are not supported and will not appear in the photo list:

Silently skipped
Unsupported files are silently skipped during scanning. They will not appear in the photo list or cause errors.
What Happens When Unsupported Files Are Found
- The file is not included in the photo list.
- No error or warning is shown for individual unsupported files.
- The scan continues with the next file.
- If a folder contains only unsupported files, a notification appears: "No supported files found in the selected folder."
Why Are These Formats Not Supported?
Phosor focuses on the culling workflow — quickly browsing and sorting photos. The supported formats cover the vast majority of photography workflows:
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF — Standard image formats used by photographers and web workflows.
- RAW formats — Camera-specific RAW files from major manufacturers.
Formats like HEIC, AVIF, and video files are outside the scope of the current beta.
Future support
Support for additional formats may be added in future releases. See the Roadmap for details.
Troubleshooting: Files Not Appearing
If your photos are not appearing in Phosor, check:
- File format — Is the file in a supported format? See Supported Formats.
- File extension — Does the file have the correct extension?
- File permissions — Can Phosor read the file?
- Folder contents — Does the folder contain any supported files at all?
Check the notification
If no supported files are found, a notification appears at the bottom of the screen. Check for this message.
