Beta Status
Phosor is currently in an Internal Beta stage. Features may change before the public release. Performance may occasionally be inconsistent depending on hardware, image formats, and library size. Unexpected bugs may still occur. Feedback from beta testers is highly appreciated.
Phosor is currently available for Windows and macOS, Linux support is planned for a future release.

No additional runtimes or manual dependency installation are required on supported platforms.
System Requirements
Phosor is designed to run efficiently on a wide range of modern computers. Since image browsing and culling are primarily CPU and storage-driven tasks, an SSD is strongly recommended for the best experience, especially when working with large photo libraries.
Minimum
Purpose: Casual JPEG workflows and small-to-medium photo libraries.

This configuration is suitable for everyday JPEG culling and libraries containing several thousand photos. Basic navigation and preview generation remain responsive under normal workloads.
Recommended

This configuration provides a smooth experience when browsing large collections, switching between images, and managing projects containing tens of thousands of JPEG files.
Highly Suitable
Purpose: Professional photographers working with high-resolution cameras, RAW previews, and very large photo libraries.

This configuration is ideal for demanding workflows involving embedded RAW previews, high-resolution images, and libraries containing tens of thousands of photos while maintaining consistent responsiveness.
Performance
Phosor relies primarily on CPU performance, available memory, and storage speed. Unlike photo editors, it does not require a powerful dedicated GPU for normal operation. An SSD—preferably NVMe—will provide the most noticeable improvement when browsing large photo libraries.
Platform Distribution Note
Phosor is distributed without a code-signing certificate.
Windows
On Windows, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may display a warning stating that the application is from an unknown publisher.
To continue:
- Click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
This warning is expected for unsigned beta software and does not indicate that the application is malicious.
macOS
Because the beta builds are not yet signed or notarized by Apple, Gatekeeper may prevent Phosor from opening the first time.
If macOS displays:
"Phosor cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."
Follow these steps:
- Right-click Phosor.app.
- Select Open.
- Click Open again when prompted.
Alternatively, if the application has already been blocked:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to the Security section.
- Click Open Anyway next to the blocked application.
Why does this happen?
During the beta period, Phosor is distributed without a Developer ID certificate or Apple notarization. This is common for early development builds and allows rapid iteration before the public release.
Linux
Most Linux distributions do not require code signing for locally downloaded applications.
If necessary, make the binary executable before launching:

Verifying Your Installation
- Launch Phosor.
- The welcome screen should appear, displaying the application name, tagline ("Less clicking, more shooting."), and an Open Folder button.
- If the welcome screen appears, Phosor is ready to use.
